Follower pumps are an efficient way to pump high viscosity fluids into drums. However, like any other pump, they can become less efficient over time if you don’t take the proper steps to keep them running efficiently.
ปั้มไลค์ to improve pump efficiency is to optimize the piping in your system. This can help to minimize pressure drop and reduce frictional losses.
3) Check the Valve
Whenever you change barrels in a drum pump, it is important to make sure that the valve is open at all times. This is because if the valve is closed, air will be trapped inside the barrel and can cause the pump to soak up fluid. This can lead to waste or even process breakdown.
A valve assembly 21 consists of a tubular body 22 with a first counterbore 26 and shoulder 27 at one end, a second counterbore 28 and shoulder 29 at the other end, and a threaded sleeve member 33 positioned in counterbore 26 against shoulder 27 to secure a ball valve 37. The ball valve 37 is urged toward a closed position by a spring 38 which presses against the valve follower 39. A check valve is provided to prevent further movement of the piston until the stop member 72 engages the valve.
Injection is made through the valve body 11 by means of a hollow actuating rod 44 which extends from the follower into a hollow piston 81 which is limited in movement by an adjustable stop member 72. Each upward movement of the valve opens the piston 81 and the actuating rod to inject a selected amount of fluid from pump chamber 61 into the outlet side of the valve body.
The air pressure regulator 63 controls the flow of air into the check valve 61 and to the lower port 51 in the follower 15 by controlling the inlet of the air supply line 57 and the exhaust from the control valve 45. When the lever 53 is swung up to raise the follower, the inlet of the air supply line 58 is blocked, and when the lever 53 is swung down to lower the follower, the inlet of the control valve 45 is blocked.
4) Clean the Pump
If you use a FOLLOWER PUMP to fill grease containers, it’s worth cleaning it periodically. This will help prevent clogs and reduce the likelihood of leaks. It may also improve the pump’s flow rates and performance.
To do the above, you’ll need to remove the pump from the container and rinse it off with clean water. Then, wipe down the seal and the valve. You’ll want to check the pump for signs of wear, such as cracks and rust. If the pump is severely galled, it’s probably time for a new one.
Another way to clean the pump is by replacing the o-ring. This may seem like a trivial task, but it’s a good idea to do so because the o-ring helps keep moisture out and can make your pump run more efficiently. For a smooth flow, it’s best to use a high-quality o-ring. It will last longer and work more effectively than a cheaper alternative. You should also consider using an o-ring with a larger diameter to reduce the risk of leaks. This is particularly important with pumps that are in high-traffic areas, as it can help to keep dirt out and the pump running smoothly. You can even add a small bit of soap to the o-ring to enhance its performance.
